Venezuelan Warao

Waraos are an indigenous people inhabiting northeastern Venezuela and western Guyana. They are more than 36.000 people. Waraos are the oldest human society in Venezuela and they are supposed to be in their ancestral habitat for 8.000 or 9.000 years. They are a pacific society of fishermen and horticulturists, transhumant, living in the difficult area of the delta, with all the pipes and small rivers. They obtain from there their food and other means thanks to their great knowledge of the area.
